Because going arse-backwards and spitting in the face of progress by "living up" to everything Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 "accomplished" with crappily-done genre roulette with boring gameplay styles, narmtastic "serious" plots when the series as it is today has gained an identity with it's more lighthearted tone that is nowhere near as pretentious and re-hiring mostly awful SA-era voice actors is totally the right direction in which to take the Sonic series.

Of course if it the hypothetical SA3 was done very well then who would I be to complain? But the chances of that are extremely likely to be cheesewire slim and the notion of making SA3 with many of the aspects of the first two when the series has moved on, become more Sonic-focused by the word of Sonic Team itself and gradually improved after such horrible travesties like '06 is such a blatant fanboy pandering concept that it rivals Shadow the Hedgehog (The game) and Classic Sonic's completely non-sensical muteness in Generations in terms of asininity.

Disagree, i personally hate the light hearted style the franchise has simply because it´s poorly written, unfunny jokes, tons of plot holes & inconcestys, Flanderization, and simply wasted potential, and i think both writters shoud just leave Sonic or hell, leave writting in general since most other projects they worked on sucked (besides bumpy´s night out but that was 20+ years ago), i also like the multiple gameplay styles, another thing i hate about this is the fact that if Sonic doesnt want to go back and move on, then why are they constantly putting nostalgia pandering to the genesis days? why do they desperatly want to bring back classic Sonic? i think Sonic adventure 1 & 2 Actually made the franchise move on better than colors or generations, wich are just steps back from sonic´s full potential, (these two games had tons of potential story wise).
gameplay wise i Actually liked some of those gameplay styles, stuff like the Racing, treasure Hunt, traditional platformer w/a robot chasing you & Shoot em up from SA1 were great, sadly the shoot em up and treasure hunts were kinda ruined in SA2.
